Clover County, a 24 year old singer songwriter, took the stage in Denver, CO as the first date of her first headline tour.
Walking into Globe Hall, a dark venue with wild west decor, I was gripped by the beautiful stage setup, reminiscent of Kacey Musgraves. Covered in flowers, a lacy backdrop, a suitcase, and a Clover County sign modeled after a highway sign, I knew I was in for a good show.

The opener, Ethansroom, warms up the stage with his acoustic guitar covering vulnerable topics about mental health, panic attacks, friendship, mourning past relationships, and the end of the world. Helio, his sunshine friend and mascot, joins him on stage, reminding us of the brightness and joy in the world, even as we listen to him share heavy experiences with us.

As Clover County walked on stage, in a long white dress, everyone was stunned by her ethereal beauty. I truly have never seen someone so angelic take the stage. The packed room was captivated by her presence from her first step on stage.

She sat down, smiling at the crowd, truly caught in the moment of the first show of her first headline tour. As she welcomed everyone in, she shared that the stage represented her porch, a motif that continued throughout her set. Before “Good These Days”, she reminded us of the importance of showing up for our community and our neighbors. Those words instantly created a sense of connection with everyone in that room. I walked away with two new friends!
"Love thy neighbor, hang out on porches."

Despite many of her songs and the stories she shared recounting her experiences of moving when growing up or traveling while on tour, her stage presence gave me a comforting feeling of being welcomed into her home. Through her crowd interaction, she worked to connect with as many people as possible, including mentioning the many messages she got about people who were celebrating their anniversaries or birthdays or friendships.
"I left you some room in my suitcase baby."
Her song, “Suitcase”, is one of my favorites, a song about making the choice to leave for the road, even when knowing you’re doing it on your own. Behind her on stage, was a suitcase on her porch, in front of her Clover County sign, announcing that she’d be hitting the road once again. Many of her songs highlight the importance of being your own person and following your dreams, even if you’re doing it solo.

Finishing out her set with an unreleased song, she shared the friendship she’s built with a friend’s neighbor in Nashville, TN, despite her not living there. This woman is the image of who Clover wants to be in 30 years. One night, while on the porch drinking wine, they discussed the importance of telling someone you love them while you can, wise words that have stuck with Clover. Without spoiling the beauty of this song, this story was one that resonated with me and I can’t wait to put it on repeat when it comes out!

Clover County has just started her "Finer Things" tour and will spend the next 6 weeks traveling the US, including Seattle, WA on 2/24 and Portland, OR on 2/26!
