Mermaid made waves in Spokane last night:

The musical duo Mermaid (comprised of Candace Quarrels & Brittany Campbell ) played at The Big Dipper with support from Prodsynesthete and Yel Menro (as well as a killer solo set from Brittany) on their Back in Hamilton Tour - Candace and Brittany are currently apart of the Hamilton national tour that's stopped in Spokane until April 20th!

The duos sound is a mix of soul, R&B, pop, punk, and more - they span across and blend multiple genres, which stands out live. Their stage presence is super captivating and real, you can feel their connection with the music, each other, and with the crowd.

"Emerging from a post-pandemic haze, Thom, Tara, and Evan

made a cathartic return to the Seattle music scene in a form true to its

namesake—Brat."

Seattle-based band Brat - featuring Thom Strub, Tara Sloan, and Evan LeSure - is fresh off the release of their latest album, Welcome Back.

"You said that you and I were as real as you can feel

And you could never tell a lie and you don't know what tomorrow is

If you think it's worth it that's a chance you'll have to take

What would happen if you found a fake?" [Going, track 1 of Welcome Back]

Brat and their new album are a true reflection of the Pacific Northwest music scene, not just in sound and production, but in spirit. They embody what it means to make music and build community in this region. With Evan’s background in sound engineering at iconic venues like Neumos and The Showbox, Tara’s years of music exposure from her experience working at a Kansas record store, and Thom’s compelling songwriting, the music isn’t just something you hear-it’s something you feel.

Each member’s strengths shine through and work together throughout album, creating a sound that’s as honest as it is unforgettable.

We’re stoked to have a band like Brat representing the Northwest. Catch them live at Mosswood Lofts on May 30th and at Star Brass Works on June 28th. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the chance to experience their energy in person!

In the meantime, you can find their album Welcome Back here.

Lightweight Champion is a musical collaboration between four Seattle-based musicians, focused around the songwriting of lead singer Aaron Spieldenner. The band released their debut EP “Valley” on hometown cassette label Den Tapes in April 2023. This collection of songs demonstrates the bands versatility and arrangement prowess – it merges Spieldenner’s lyrics-forward style with warm and textural production, leaning into the tender moments while making room for the joyous occasions of life.

After playing around Washington state for the better part of two years the band has decided to take their delightful brand of Alt-Country and Indie Rock to the greater Northwest. The tour will take them through Idaho, Montana and Oregon before looping back home for a show where they got their start: Seattle’s storied Conor Byrne Pub.

The band’s sets will traverse and reprise through their full repertoire and will be as diverse as the stages upon which the songs are played. They’ll visit everywhere from burrito joints to hot springs to Shriners’ clubs, all the while sprinkling their songs along the way. Their open approach to crafting sets and to writing songs has garnered Lightweight Champion a lively and supportive crowd in their hometown of Seattle.

Join the band as they hop in a van for the first time to share their music in all new places.
